Christina Hedding & Teresa Novak - Owners/Directors

Sisters, following a dream and passion for dance, are the co-owners and directors for Footlights Dance Studio.

Christina’s teaching resume spans over 28 years. She studied dance at both Brookhaven College and the University of Texas at Austin and has choreographed many special event performances for groups in San Antonio, Dallas and New York. Christina also serves as an adjudicator and contest administrator for American Dance/Drill Team and has worked with them for 28 years. Christina loves giving back to her community, volunteering at her children’s schools and at Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church, yep…you may just recognize her from many VBS performances! Her love of dance and instilling that passion in others has led her to where she is today and she is so thankful to her husband, Matt, and their two daughters, Alyssa and Lynley, for sharing that passion and allowing her to follow a dream! Both girls are part of Footlights Performing Arts Company and have been dancing their whole lives. The Hedding Family lives in Flower Mound with their dog, two cats and a frog!

Teresa, dancing since the age of three, loves sharing her passion for dance. A graduate of The University of Texas at Austin (Hook ‘em!), Teresa was a member of the UT Dance Team. Teaching for more than 18 years, she was an original member of Texas Tap Ensemble and served as Co-Director and Choreographer for Metrocrest Community Theater for many years. She has an extensive background in youth ministry with St. Ann’s Catholic Church, where she assisted in producing The Passion Play for six years and serving the youth in her community. An avid volunteer, Teresa received the Mary Henry Humanitarian Award for her contributions in the Dallas community in 2012 and is known for her work in media and marketing with DREAM Fund. In 2018, she was recognized by the American Advertising Federation as a Shining Star, honoring women in marketing and communications. Teresa’s husband, Jim, and their son, Holden, are her biggest fans and she is forever grateful for their support, allowing her to pursue her passion and heart! Jim, Teresa and Izzy, their four-legged baby, live in Coppell (Holden is grown and lives in Dallas!).

Marissa Boyd - Instructor, FPAC Director

Marissa has been teaching with Footlights for 14 years. Her dance journey began at the age of 3 at San Antonio Dance Academy, where she received the opportunity to perform at the State Fair of Texas, the Riverwalk and the TI-IN Educational Network. She was a member of Footlights' performing company for several years where she received numerous top awards for her group dances and solos. She was a 4-year member of the Lewisville Farmerettes and Captain her Senior Year. Marissa loves to perform, and has been part of many shows locally. Her favorite was having the opportunity to perform in and choreograph Trietsch MUMC's Annie, as well as choreograph Oklahoma for Greater Lewisville Civic Theater. As Footlights' Company Director, she has had the privilege to take groups to New York City and Disneyworld. Her group and solo choreography consistently receives top honors, including Entertainment Awards, Choreography Recognition and First Overalls. Marissa and her husband, Jeff, live in Frisco with their two kids, Madelynn and Aidan!

Allen Pham - Instructor

Allen grew up in Nederland, Texas and began his passion for dance in high school. A graduate of Texas A&M University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, dance still has his heart and he joined Footlights this year as a Hip-Hop instructor. Allen has won several awards and scholarships at dance conventions and was a member of the Fade to Black Hip Hop Dance Ensemble at Texas A&M. While in college, he also taught and directed a Hip-Hop team at Suzanne’s School of Dance in College Station. This is Allen’s first year with Footlights and we love his energy, smile and enthusiasm!

Hannah Engleman - Instructor

Hannah grew up in the area and was a Footlights student and member of the FPAC competitive team. She trained heavily in ballet under the direction of Marina Almayeva. Upon graduation, Hannah served as a teacher and caretaker at an orphanage in Kenya and furthered her education in Theology in Australia and Papua New Guinea. A dancer at heart, she is also a certified barista and a personal trainer. We are thrilled to have Hannah back at Footlights and serving our students.

Jennifer Coates - Instructor

Jen is in her tenth-year teaching at Footlights. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from the University of North Texas. There she served as Dance Ambassador for the College of Arts and Sciences and was honored as an Outstanding Student in Dance. She danced for three years with Muscle Memory Dance theatre and currently teaches all styles of dance. She is a licensed Physical Therapist assistant and lives in the area with her husband and son.

Jenny Long - Instructor

Jenny started her training at the age of 5 with the Berkshire Ballet Theater in Crystal Lake, IL. She trained in ballet, jazz, pointe, contemporary and modern. During her time with BBT she performed in numerous ballets and roles such as; Princess Aurora in The Sleeping Beauty, Spring Fairy in Cinderella, Dew Drop in The Nutcracker and many more. Along with her numerous ballet roles, Jenny grew up competing and attending dance conventions in Chicago. Jenny is a graduate of Illinois State University where she received a BS in Dance Performance. During college, she was a part of the Illinois State Dance Theatre, performing throughout the Midwest and annually at the American College Dance Festival. Jenny has been teaching for over 10 years and loves sharing her knowledge and love for dance with the students at Footlights! She and her husband, Ro, live in Lewisville with many four legged friends!

John Pryor - Instructor

John is no stranger to clogging, he has been clogging for over 42 years! He is in his third year with Footlights, though has been teaching for more than 18 years. He has taught in national and international workshops and at the National Clogging Convention. Joining him in the art of clogging is his wife, 3 kids, 3 sisters, 7 nieces and a nephew – family gatherings are loud at their house! John was on a state competition team, T-Force, and they won numerous awards. John’s love for Christ and dance shines and we love having him at Footlights!

Katrina Wells - Instructor

Katrina has been teaching with Footlights for ten years. She holds a BFA in Ballet from Texas Christian University. Prior to TCU, she studied dance on scholarship at Point Park College in Philadelphia. Kat was a professional dancer with Holland America and Carnival Cruise Lines, Branson’s City Lights and additional venues in both the states and Japan. She danced professionally in Miami with Body and Soul Dance Company, where she also choreographed the Miss Teen National pageant. Kat is also a registered massage therapist and lives in the Flower Mound area with her husband, Lee.

Kayla Brummett - Instructor

Kayla has been teaching for over ten years, but we have been lucky to have her here at Footlights for
the last six! She graduated from Dental Hygiene School in La Crosse, WI and currently works
at Highland Village Dental. She has taught combos, ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, contemporary and
her favorite...BOOT CAMP! Kayla grew up dancing with Misty’s Dance Unlimited and was a member
of their competitive teams. Kayla has performed at Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, Disney World
and many competitions throughout the Midwest. She and her husband, Tyler, are excited to add to
their family this October! They love to travel and check new things off their bucket list!

Megan Denton - Instructor

Megan has been teaching for five years at Footlights Dance Studio. She trained most of her life at Footlights, was a member of Ingredients Dance Company and toured with Dance Revolution. Megan has performed across the country, but her most memorable performances were in NYC Times Square and American Airlines Center. Megan has also performed with Ryteside Dance Crew, Unending Performing Company, Sean Bankhead and as a professional dancer at the celebrity DREAM Fund event. Megan adores her job and loves working with kids! Newly married, she and husband Connor live in Flower Mound and are the proud parents of a new puppy!

Richard Falls - Instructor

Richard started dancing at Illinois State University, where he earned a BA in Music Education and a minor in Dance Education. During college, he studied with the Illinois State Dance Theatre and Visceral Dance Center and was privileged to attend a summer intensive at the Martha Graham School. He also enjoyed performing opportunities with Joel Hall Dancers, NoMi LaMad Dance Company, and Inaside Chicago Dance. In addition to teaching ballet and modern, Richard is well versed in social dance instruction (ballroom, Latin and swing dancing) and drumline instruction. He spent two years with Dallas Black Dance Theatre II as a company member. Richard teaches our ballet and jazz technique classes.

Samantha Gonzalez - Instructor

Samantha began dancing at three and was accepted in the Corpus Christi Ballet company in 2001. She has performed multiple roles in ballets such as The Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Giselle and many more. Some of her favorite roles include Clara in The Nutcracker, Temperament Fairy in The Sleeping Beauty, and most recently Sugar Plum in Footlights' very own production of The Nutcracker. Samantha began student teaching in 2003 and teaching in 2005 with Munro Ballet Studios in Corpus Christi, Texas. She earned her Associates degree in business in 2010 from University of Phoenix. Currently, Ms. Sam teaches ballet, jazz and tap at Footlights and has been with the studio since 2012. When she's not teaching, Ms. Sam enjoys sewing and other arts and craft projects and going hiking with her husband, Josh, daughter, Remy and dog, Sasha.

Sarah Austin - Instructor

Sarah received her early training at Dallas Metropolitan Ballet and graduated from Virginia School of Arts. Sarah was chosen to perform at the 2006 International Ballet Competition in Jackson, Mississippi and was a finalist at the American Ballet Competition in Miami, Florida in 2008. She joined Missouri Ballet Theatre in 2009, where she danced the leading roles of the Sugar Plum Fairy and Snow Queen in The Nutcracker, Titania and Helena in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, as one of the Ugly Stepsisters in the World Premier of Cinderella and Hoop Pas de Deux. We love having Miss Sarah at Footlights!

Tara Hendrick - Instructor

Tara started dancing at the age of 3 and acting at the age of 5. She has pursued both passions throughout her life. Tara is in her third-year teaching with Footlights. She is a graduate of Baylor University and studied Fine Arts with a focus on Graphic Design and Theatre. Tara loves to participate in theatre and dance opportunities, serving as a choreographer for many local groups and clubs. Tara owns a freelance graphic design business and lives in Highland Village with her husband, Chris and their children, Preston and Liv. Liv is a Footlights student and a member of Footlights Performing Arts Company.

Taryn Cain - Instructor

Taryn leads NOTED, our Musical Theatre Performing Arts Company and teaches our Musical Theatre classes. She has an impressive resume from performing to directing many roles and full shows on the big stage! Taryn scripted her own first full show, Music Always Repeats Itself, putting together favorite Broadway tunes in a great musical review. For her show, she wrote, directed, designed and built the sets! That show lit a fire in her heart and she realized that she had to find a way to combine her love of theater and her love of God and started her ministry, Stage Right. Taryn’s heart is big and her desire for everyone to have a place helped her to realize the need for this ministry. We love having Taryn as part of our Footlights family!
