ABOUT FOOTLIGHTS

Welcome to Footlights Dance Studio!
Inspiring Movement, Nurturing Hearts

At Footlights Dance Studio, we offer classes in all styles of dance for ages 2 through adult—providing exceptional training and education in a loving, faith-filled environment.

Founded in 1996, Footlights has proudly served generations of dancers and families. We are deeply grateful for the unwavering support of our community, students, and alumni who have helped shape who we are today.

Owned and directed by sisters Christina Hedding and Teresa Novak, Footlights reflects their shared passion for the arts and commitment to student growth. With extensive backgrounds in dance, Christina and Teresa lead with both expertise and heart—focusing not only on strong technique, but also on nurturing each dancer’s mind, heart, and spirit.

Our talented and devoted faculty share in this mission: to inspire confidence, character, and creativity in every dancer who walks through our doors.

Come join the Footlights family, and experience the joy of dance in a place where you truly belong.

  • How do I view my dancer’s class?

You may view your dancer on our closed-circuit televisions while you wait in the parent waiting room. We ask that parents not stand in the studio windows during class, as it can be distracting for your dancer and the entire class.

Families will also have additional opportunities to see progress throughout the year, including Parent Observation Week with a small in-class performance in December, and Parent Participation Week in the spring.

  • Can we switch classes or cancel after registering?

We will always do our best to accommodate schedule changes before costumes are ordered and pending class availability.

Our dance season runs August through May, and registration is a commitment to the full season. If you need to change classes or withdraw, please email us and we will send you the required form. If withdrawal occurs after the 1st of the month, tuition cannot be refunded.

There is a $35 cancellation fee per dropped class.

Costumes are ordered in November and recital fees are charged in February; both are non-refundable.

  • Meet our Faculty
  • What does my student wear to dance class?

Just click this link and it will take you directly to the Parent/Student Handbook. This lists all of our policies and procedures and dress code.

  • How many teachers are in a class?

At Footlights, we believe in personalized attention and intentional instruction. That’s why we maintain a small student-to-teacher ratio, ensuring that every dancer receives the support and guidance they need to thrive.

Many of our classes also include a student-teacher assistant, providing an extra layer of mentorship and encouragement in the studio.

Our experienced and passionate faculty are not only skilled educators—they have a deep love for teaching and are dedicated to bringing out the best in every student, both on and off the dance floor. You can view all of our faculty here.

  • What are your tuition costs and fees?

Just click this link for our fee schedule. We offer sibling and adult discounts and a 10% discount to all military, first responder, and pastor families. Tuition is due on the first of each month and our dance season runs from August through May. It is a ten-month dance year, running concurrently with the school season. We offer summer classes and camps, and tuition is released at the time of summer schedules.

  • When is recital?

Each year, the recital is held at the end of May/first of June. We will announce the recital date in the fall. The dance season begins in August and finishes with our end-of-year recital.

  • Does my student have to participate in recital?

While performing is not required, it is highly encouraged! We believe that performance is an essential part of dance training—it builds confidence, stage presence, and creates lasting memories.

Our year-end performance is a special highlight of the season, and we love seeing our dancers shine on stage. After all, who doesn’t enjoy a little stage makeup and a sparkly costume?!

  • Do you have competitive teams?

WE DO! We have a large, award-winning, competitive program. The program is by audition only, and we compete in all dance styles. Our auditions are held each summer in late July. If you would like more information on Footlights Performing Arts Company, please email us at [email protected]

  • Do you offer private lessons?

We do. You may email [email protected] for additional information or submit a private lesson request at this link.

  • Missed a newsletter?

If you aren’t receiving our newsletters, please let us know, and we can add you to our distribution list! Email us at [email protected]

  • What are your holidays for this year?

We follow the LISD calendar for major holidays, though we are open on several teacher in-service days and student holidays. Our calendar can be found here.

  • What is your inclement weather policy?

We will follow LISD on school closings for inclement weather for the most part. However, in Texas – ice in the morning can mean clear streets and sunshine in the afternoon! We will always place the safety of our students and families first, but we will send emails, texts, and post on social media to notify of any closings.
